Blackjack, or as it is also known 21 or Pontoon, is one of the most widely played card games in casinos. Blackjack is also the most played card game that has a specific banker that not only deals, but also pays players all their winnings. Because there is a banker in Blackjack, there is not limited to the amount that you can win on the table. Like poker however most Blackjacks tables have limits to the maximum bet that is allowed, this is to prevent Blackjack players from being silly and betting all of their money on one hand. Blackjack can be played with strategies; however there are very few that can be used to play Blackjack, as it is one of the few card games that requires more luck than skill. The movie 21 release in 2008 revolves around a team of MIT students who cheated at Blackjack. The strategy they used was card counting, which is by many ways the only way to cheat at Blackjack. Many casinos have very strict rules regarding card counting in regards to Blackjack, and many of the card counters that emerged in the 70’s and 80’s are completely banned from even entering casino premises.

The point of Blackjack is to get as close to 21 as possible without busting. Busting in Blackjack refers to having more than a total of 21 for all of your cards. A Standard deck of cards is used for Blackjack, and tens and face cards count as 10, the other cards all count as face value, other than aces, which can count as 1 or 11 in Blackjack. Getting Blackjack involves getting a ten or a face card with an ace, in the standard international rules, getting Blackjack pays 3:2, which means for every 2 you bet, you get 2 back, plus a bonus of 1, so if you bet 100, you will get back your 100 plus an additional 150 from the dealer.

There are many variations on Blackjack, however most of these follow the same basic rules, the only differences being bonus payouts for certain specific hands. The most popular of these is 777 Blackjack, where getting three seven’s to get 21 pays out a large bonus.
