BLACKJACK STRATEGY | HIT OR STAND, DOUBLE DOWN, SPLIT PAIRSIn Casino blackjack every player has a set of options as to how to act at any given moment of the game. These actions will inevitably determine how well that player will do and are generally accompanied by a certain hand gesture that is made for the benefit of the house cameras that are vigilantly scrutinized to prevent any sort of collusion. Here list of these possible actions along with a brief explanation and the accompanying hand gesture. Hit: This means to request another card and is usually verbalized as 'hit me'. The accompanying gesture is to either scrape your cards across the table, to tap your finger on the table or wave towards yourself. Stand: This means to take no more cards. This is also made clear by a wave of the hand indicating no more cards or by sliding your cards face up, underneath your wager. Double down: This can only be done after having received your first two cards. By choosing to double down you are requesting that your existing wager be allowed to be doubled by yourself whilst only receiving one more card from the dealer. This is done when your first two cards have brought you close to 21 but not quite as close as you'd like. Doubling down is motioned by placing additional chips next to your earlier wager. Split a Pair: When having been dealt a pair, you can choose to split this pair by placing additional chips beside your existing wager. In this case your cards will be split and you will continue playing with two separate hands. Surrender: Players may also surrender by relinquishing half of their wager and not taking part in the rest of the hand. |
